Mechanical Systems Engineer
Project: NSSS Power Uprate projects
Work Location: Full Time Onsite or Part Remote (please reach out to discuss variable to decide which you prefer)
Pay Rate: Not Defined / need Candidate’s requested rate
Duration: Initially One Year w/ annual extensions expected
Schedule: (4) Ten Hour Days / week
Position / Scope: Provide technical expertise in the identification, investigation, and resolution of plant operating, safety, and design issues to ensure plant reliability and availability. Including use of technical expertise to support safe and reliable plant operation and maintenance of components.
Job Responsibilities
Developing mechanical technical evaluations e.g. repair plans, bolting, torquing, and gasket evaluations.
Monitoring, trending and assessing system, program and component health to improve plant reliability.
Championing Strategic Improvements to Systems and Components
Support maintenance and work management by resolving engineering technical issues within the work management process, including simple trouble shooting support
Leading complex troubleshooting activities with maintenance and operations support.
Leading design, development and installation of strategic, emergent and temporary modifications in the plant.
Identify, prioritize and support other plant processes and programs including: the corrective action program, operability determination, adverse condition monitoring and operational decision making processes
Perform field support of plant activities and conducting paired or individual system walk downs.
Lead cross-functional teams to manage/resolve system performance issues.
Ensure Program/Component/System readiness and compliance with design / license basis
Address emergent issues to minimize the impact on engineering core business activities.
Strategy recommendations and support for regulatory and industry inspections
Perform other assigned duties as determined by the Engineering
Job Specific Qualifications
Required:
BS Degree in Mechanical, Civil or Chemical Engineering or related technical degree with a minimum of (7) years performing Engineering work in a nuclear or in a related industry.
Available for Shift Work during plant outages and generation challenges.
Must meet Nuclear requirements for Unescorted Site Access.
Support plant outage engineering priorities and participate in the Emergency Response Organization and Engineering Duty Team for emergent plant issues
Attend/represent PSEG at industry seminars, trainings and meetings.
Desired:
Nuclear Power Plant Engineering or equivalent experience
Current or Previous SRO license/cert
Master's Degree or US Navy Nuclear experience
Industry Leadership and System or Component SME
Engineering In Training Certification
Professional Engineer (PE) License
Experience managing reliability of mechanical systems or components
Experience managing projects and/or external vendors
Minimum Years of Experience: 7 years of experience
Education: Bachelor’s Degree
