Per Diem: $178.00/day (7 days per week)
Mob / Demob: $500.00/each ($1,000 total)
Hours: Full Time / 40
Position Summary:
We are seeking (2) experienced Technical Procedure Writers with hands-on nuclear field experience to support the Deep Fission Small Modular Reactor project. This is not a desk-bound editing role—we need someone who has walked the plant floor, understands system operations, and can translate complex technical concepts into clear, executable procedures that keep workers safe and compliant.
Primary Responsibilities:
Develop, review, and revise technical procedures including operating procedures, maintenance procedures, surveillance procedures, and test procedures for SMR systems
Collaborate with design engineers, operations staff, and subject matter experts to ensure procedures accurately reflect system design and operational requirements
Ensure procedures comply with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and client specifications
Participate in procedure validation and verification activities
Review design documents, vendor manuals, and technical specifications to extract relevant information for procedure development
Identify and resolve technical discrepancies between design documentation and field conditions
Support procedure review committees and incorporate feedback from multiple stakeholders
Maintain procedure configuration management and document control requirements

Pure technical editors without field experience
Writers who have only worked on procedure formatting or grammar checks
Candidates without engineering backgrounds who don't understand the "why" behind the steps
Anyone who hasn't personally witnessed procedures being executed in a nuclear environment
Education / Experience Requirements:
Experience:
Minimum 5 years of experience in nuclear power operations, maintenance, or engineering roles with direct plant floor experience
Minimum 3 years of technical writing experience developing operating, maintenance, or surveillance procedures for nuclear facilities
Demonstrated experience writing procedures that have been implemented and used in operational environments
Prior involvement in plant startups, modifications, or system commissioning preferred
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering
Advanced degree preferred
Technical Knowledge:
Deep understanding of nuclear plant systems, components, and operations
Familiarity with small modular reactor technology and advanced reactor designs highly preferred
Skills:
Proficiency with procedure development software and document control systems
Excellent communication skills to interface with engineers, operators, and maintenance personnel
Physical Requirements: Must be capable of climbing, walking, kneeling, bending, and lifting as part of daily job responsibilities. Ability to lift a minimum of 35 – 60 lbs.
