Project Engineer

Job Description

Project Engineer - Charlotte, NC

Work Location:  Charlotte, NC

Salary Range: Starting at $75,000/ year + benefits

Hours: 40 Hours per week

Type: Direct Hire

US Citizenship Required


Position Details: 

  • Complete designs and lead/manage teams to complete the designs accurately

  • Utilize Civil 3D and other engineering software to produce all relevant construction drawings and engineering calculations associated with a land development project

  • Lead, train, manage, and mentor junior level engineers

  • Be the engineer of record for assigned projects

  • Must be capable of acting as the team technical lead on engineering topics and processes

  • Develop and refine organizational processes and engineering processes as it relates to building and maintaining a high performing engineering company

  • Fully prepare construction documents and all associated calculations, permit documents, reports and other associated project deliverables

  • Follow NCBELS governing rules and regulations and assist with staying in compliance with those rules

  • Review (QA/QC) others’ work and work with non-licensed and licensed employees to revise plans as needed to meet quality expectations and schedule milestones

  • Apply project management techniques to manage schedules and budgets for all projects

  • Prepare and review working drawings, details, layouts, surveys, estimates, and work products

  • Effectively communicate with and manage clients and sub consultants

  • Performing stormwater BMP design calcs and sizing of all permanent and temporary ponds

  • Manage project critical paths and scheduling for multiple projects

  • Work independently to prepare, submit, and permit land development projects

  • Assist in the development of scopes and fees, and budget management

  • Exercise initiative, judgment, and knowledge as required in areas of responsibility

  • Coordinate with the work of others who assist in specific assignments

  • Interact with clients and travel to client sites as required


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Engineering Technology from an A.B.E.T. accredited school.


Preferred Experience: Professional Engineering (PE) license in the state of North Carolina (or the ability to immediately obtain)

  • 4+ years of relevant experience

  • Land Development design experience on residential and commercial developments

  • Proficiency using AutoCAD Civil 3D and other engineering software

  • The job requires the ability to sit for extended periods at a computer workstation. At times a site visit will be required so traversing safely on job sites is required.

  • Occasional travel to client facilities and project sites requires the ability to climb ladders, inspect, and be physically mobile in and around client construction sites.
