Sr. Electrical Supervisor - Tampa, FL

Contract to Direct


Anticipated Pay Rate: $70 - $74/hr.

Proposed Start Date: 04/22/2024.

Anticipated End Date: 04/18/2025

Hours 7am -3:30pm M-F / Light travel less than 50miles with Mileage exp.


Short Description:

Electrical engineering with equipment and processes commonly utilized in power plants, such as, but not limited to generators, transformers, protection systems, NERC regulatory requirements, inverters, renewable energy plants.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Work with station engineers to identify and solve complex O&M problems and technical issues. Lead equipment life assessments, develop best practices and participate in and/or lead Root Cause Analysis investigations.

2. Provide technical leadership and guidance on NERC regulatory standards. This will include coordinating efforts with various departments namely Systems Planning, System Security, Regulatory and Renewables.

3. Lead asset management teams on developing maintenance strategies. This will include implementing pilot programs, making improvements to existing systems and processes, and working with stakeholders on evaluating efficacy of such initiatives.

4. Monitor work activities of contractors assigned to him/her, and coordinate work with Asset Management, Project Management, Construction, plant outage coordinators, station planners and on-site and off-site contractors.

5. Lead the development of scope of work, project schedules, and cost estimates for various projects. This will also include reviewing technical drawings and data for various projects.

6. Develop and support discipline specific technical and regulatory training for Asset Management, Project Management, Energy Supply, and Delivery team members.

7. Supervision of Engineers, Co-ops, Maintenance Specialists and/or other resources


SUPERVISION

Direct Supervision: Have full responsibility to supervise other employees, including engineers, technical staff, and Coops.

Indirect Supervision: None


RELATIONSHIPS

Key Internal: Lead Discipline Engineers, Managers and Directors.

Key External: Consultants (A/E, Attorneys, etc.), Contractors, Customers, Government and/or Regulatory Agencies, Industry Associations, NERC, SERC, EPRI, Vendors


Education Required:

Minimum of Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited four-year college.

Preferred: Master of Science in Electrical engineering.


Licenses/Certifications

Required: Registration as a Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Florida for Principal Engineer

Preferred: Registration as a Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Florida for Senior Engineer


Related Experience:

Required: Experience consists of work in heavy industry or utility business with a focus on Project Engineering or Plant Maintenance

Preferred: 12 years heavy industrial/power plant engineering/maintenance experience/project management.


Supervisory Experience

Required: None

Preferred: 5 years supervision of technical or maintenance personnel.


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSA)

Required: Demonstrated sound knowledge in a functional work-related area with an expected or higher degree of performance, Demonstrated above expected performance in the Senior/Consulting Engineer classification.

Preferred: Knowledge of Company policies and work procedures.


WORKING CONDITIONS

1. This position requires working in an industrial environment (including heights and confined space)

2. Working some overtime (weekends and holidays)

3. Some travel locally, nationally and limited internationally. This will include frequent travel to various facilities.

4. This position will require 100% onsite presence at a facility or plant.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ REQUIREMENTS

1. This position requires climbing stairs and scaffolding, utilizing safety harnesses, ability to stand and walk for extended periods, working in noise, working at solar sites, dust, heat, and high humidity areas while utilizing personnel protection equipment.

2. Flexibility to crawl in and out of tight confined areas.
