Civil Design Engineer, Level C (TVA1JP00002693)


Work Location: Watts Bar Nuclear Plant - Spring City, TN 37381

Estimated Start: 11/10/2025

Estimated Duration:  1 year

TVA Per Diem: $1,500 / month



Position Description:


As a Civil Design Specialist, develops and evaluates plans and criteria for a variety of projects and activities to be carried out by others. Assesses the feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering evaluation tests, products, or equipment, when necessary, data are insufficient or confirmation by testing is advisable. Usually performs as a staff advisor and consultant as to a technical specialty, a type of facility or equipment, or a program function. Applies intensive and diversified knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields. Make decisions independently on engineering problems and methods and represent the organization in conferences to receive important questions and to plan and coordinate work.



Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline from an accredited curriculum.

  • Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field desirable.

  • Continuing education in engineering or related fields preferred.


Licenses & Certifications:

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) desirable.

  • Membership in professional and technical societies desirable


Experience:

  • Progressive experience applying civil engineering principles and practices across a broad range of assignments.

  • Demonstrated ability to make independent engineering decisions and apply advanced techniques in solving complex problems.

  • Experience serving as a staff advisor/consultant in a technical specialty, facility/equipment type, or program function.

  • Nuclear industry experience is preferred.


Skills & Knowledge:

  • Strong knowledge of civil engineering theories, precepts, and practices, including modifications and extensions to related sciences and disciplines.

  • Ability to assess feasibility and soundness of engineering evaluations, tests, products, or equipment, especially where data are insufficient or testing confirmation is needed.

  • Capable of applying diversified knowledge of civil engineering principles across related fields.

  • Excellent communication and representation skills; ability to participate in conferences, answer important technical questions, and coordinate work with other groups.
