Hours: 40 hours per week, with options for up to 10 hours extra for emergent projects/needs.



Position Details: We are seeking a Project Engineer II to support our client at their Aiken, SC office



Job Description:


The purpose of this position is to plan and perform work requiring sound technical judgment in the evaluation, organization, and execution of project management assignments. This role has the responsibility to perform the essential job duties and functions as listed below with the overall objective of managing and/or coordinating project activities that are in compliance with the contract and ensure the safety, quality, value, timeliness, and profitability of the completed project. Performing assigned general duties of limited scope and level of responsibility, this position is designed to develop broader project management knowledge and experience. At this level, the role may have the responsibility as the only project engineer on a medium size project with full accountability for the general duties, or the responsibility for general duties on a larger or more complex segment of a very large project.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform project engineering functions involving monitoring of progress, preparation of procedures, documentation of communications and meetings, and identification/evaluation of project issues and problems

  • Coordinate efforts of technical disciplines, vendors and licensors to ensure integrated and complete designs that meet project requirements and contractual obligations

  • Review project staffing requirements and coordinate staffing with supporting functional organization managers and/or subcontractors

  • Support creation and coordination of overall project plans and schedules, and monitoring activities, progress, and milestones against the plans

  • Support creation and coordination of project effort hours, and cost estimates and budgets, and monitor progress and cost performance against these

  • Support the preparation, delivery and coordination of project deliverables, design documents, and bid packages


Education / Experience Requirements:



The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in Change Management/Change Control, Engineering/Quality roles, or System Engineering. This is an engineering-based position requiring strong technical fundamentals and is not suitable for candidates with primarily Project Controls, Field, or IT backgrounds.



Background: Ten (10) years of relevant work experience with nuclear and EPC experience required. Must possess technical knowledge applicable to job functions, understanding of applicable statutes and guidelines, and strong attention to detail with time-management abilities. Preferred qualifications include six (6) years of EPFC/CM industry experience, prior work on minimum two (2) medium or large projects, risk assessment experience, proficiency with software tools and business applications, strategic thinking and analytical problem-solving skills, customer relationship management abilities, and project management certification (e.g., PMP).



Education: Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in engineering field of study and ten (10) years of work-related experience; a recognized professional certification or registration in the applicable field.



Physical Requirements:



The candidate might periodically be required to travel to sites, requiring the ability to travel by vehicle to the site and complete walkdowns. Walkdowns may necessitate walking, standing, and navigating industrial terrain, and will require some occasional climbing, crouching, and the ability to lift up to 50lb and wear PPE such as hard hats, safety glasses, etc. The candidate must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check. Clarity of vision for use of computers and reading drawings/designs is also required.
