Work Location: Hybrid (75% remote, 25% onsite in North Carolina or Connecticut)
Estimated Duration of Work Assignment: 12 months (potential to extend)
Pay Rate: Not Defined / need Candidate’s requested rate
Expenses: Covered for approved business travel
Position Details:
The Estimator will support the cost tracking, status reporting, performance analysis, forecasting and project baseline change control for our client's AP1000 projects.
The ideal candidate should have proficiency in Microsoft Office, and will collaborate with the project manager, project account engineers, group and system leads, as well as other teams and/or individuals and stakeholders.
The Estimator will use specialized estimating software and techniques to calculate material, labor, equipment, and overhead costs for nuclear construction.
Responsibilities include:
Utilize EVMS principles and other project management best practices while supporting project manager and team group leads in the execution of defined scope and deliverables.
Support month-end Earned Value reporting process for AP1000 new build projects.
Perform cost estimate data analysis in conjunction with project team inputs and trend projections to validate and/or revise Estimate to Complete (ETC) and Estimate at Completion (EAC) costs for new builds.
Obtain accurate and current pricing information from databases, subcontractors, suppliers, vendors to be utilized in cost estimates for new builds. Conduct cost risk analyses and assessments; identifies high-risk issues that could impact project success and recommend solutions.
Regularly update and provide progress reports, layouts, and publication of the master schedule.
Experience/Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
Min 7 years of experience in project controls
5+ years of experience as an estimator on large projects
Strong understanding of project lifecycle and work breakdown structures
Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
Proficiency with estimating software and cost databases for developing and maintaining structured, auditable cost estimates
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Exceptional analytical skills
Previously worked at Vogtle and or at VC Summer (AP1000) (preferred)
Experience in the nuclear energy, power generation, or highly regulated industry (preferred)
Familiarity with earned value management, risk analysis, and cost-schedule integration. (preferred)
Physical Requirements: Must have general mobility and ability to travel, walk to get to work location or meeting areas, support site walkdowns (if needed), tour industrial areas, etc. Must be able to pass background and medical screenings. Must be able to use a computer and be able to sit for long periods of time during project meetings and general desk work. Must be able to lift 50 lb.
