Electric Distribution Operator I
Duration: 1 year w/ possible extension
ST Pay Rate: Up to $29.05/hour
Hours: 40+ hours; Rotating AM & PM shifts
Work Location: Onsite; Richmond, VA
Job Summary:
This role is responsible for service restoration and distribution switching activities using extensive knowledge of electrical distribution systems including technical knowledge of operations and switching practices. Ensures all reporting is completed to keep management informed of system conditions, circuit outages, key and critical customer interruptions, emergency conditions and extended outages. Expected to complete the Switching Training Program to become ROC switching certified within (approximately) 12-16 months. Shift-oriented workforce.
The knowledge, skills, abilities and experiences that are required for entry into this job include:
Preferred experience in dispatching, emergency services, complex database management and/or customer service.
Understanding of the Electric Distribution System.
Skills: Interpersonal; strong written and verbal communications; analytical; personal and mainframe computer applications.
Abilities: Independent and sound problem resolution; multitasking; prioritizing constantly changing and emerging conditions; leadership abilities.
To meet operational business needs, selected candidates must be available and committed to working a flexible 24/7 shift schedule as well as overtime and storm callouts.
Required Education and Certifications / Licenses:
Minimum High School Diploma/GED
Top “must have” / Required skill sets (technical/functional):
Minimum 1+ years of experience
Ability to handle multiple tasks from start to finish, prioritizing and handling constantly changes priority levels
Ability to work under pressure and make well thought out decisions
Ability to analyze large subsets of data from multiple information sources and determine and create appropriate action plans
Attention to detail to maintain grid integrity and the safety of personnel while also ensuring accuracy and error prevention
