Hours: 40 hrs/week

General Description:
Under the direction of the immediate supervisor, performs routine chemical laboratory functions including, conducting chemical durability and other chemical tests and their associated measurements; receiving and tagging chemicals and chemical wastes and maintaining the chemical inventory; maintaining deionized water systems and verifying water quality. Works independently but in collaboration with other staff to support VSL research needs.
Experience requirements:
2 years of experience working in a chemical laboratory and using laboratory instrumentation and analytical equipment (pipettes, balances, pH meters, spectrometers, etc.).
Education Requirements:
A bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology or a related scientific field is required.
Other Requirements:
The ability to follow established laboratory operating and quality procedures, maintain written records, follow supervisor’s instructions, and comply with safety protocols.
Strong attention to detail, organization skills, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
Proficient in the use of office productivity software and able to quickly learn and use instrumentation software.
May be required to work with radioactive and/or hazardous materials wearing appropriate PPE.
