Mechanical Design Engineer

Work Location:  Full Time on Site, New Mexico

Duration: 11+ months  

Rate: Is open and non-exempt 

Hours: Full time / 40 hours (onsite)

Per diem: $178.00/day (7 days per week)

Mob / Demob: $750.00 each way ($1,500.00 total)

Trip Home: 1 paid trip home per month

US Citizenship Required

Job Description:


The ideal candidate will play a key role in the design and development of mechanical systems and components, contributing to the creation of cutting-edge solutions.


Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop mechanical components and systems using CAD software and engineering principles

  • Create detailed drawings, specifications, and documentation for manufacturing and assembly

  • Conduct analysis and testing of designs to ensure performance, reliability, and safety

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate mechanical designs with other systems and components

  • Participate in prototyping, testing, and validation of mechanical designs

  • Evaluate and select materials, components, and suppliers for mechanical systems

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes and standards

  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, codes, and standards for mechanical engineering

  • Support manufacturing and production teams with technical guidance and troubleshooting

  • Maintain accurate records of design iterations, test results, and project documentation


Education/Experience Requirements


Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field

  • Proven experience in mechanical design and engineering, preferably in a related industry

  • Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar tools

  • Strong understanding of mechanical principles, materials, and manufacturing processes

  • Experience with simulation and analysis tools for mechanical designs

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills

  • Effective communication and collaboration abilities

  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering

  • Professional Engineer (PE) License obtained by accredited examination

  • 5-6 years of related work experience: of which 2 years’ experience is in a nuclear facility
