Work Location:  Parsons, Kansas


Duration:  5 months +


Rate: Not Defined / need Candidate’s requested rate


Per Diem: $178.00/day (7 days per week)


Mob / Demob: $500.00/each ($1,000 total)


Hours: Full Time / 40 hours per week



Position Overview:



We are seeking an experienced Pressurized Water Reactor (PWR) Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) or Reactor Operator (RO) to serve as a Subject Matter Expert for the Deep Fission Small Modular Reactor project. This critical role will provide technical expertise during the design, licensing, and operational readiness phases of this advanced nuclear technology deployment.



Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert technical guidance on PWR operations, procedures, and safety systems as they relate to SMR design and deployment

  • Review and evaluate operational concepts, procedures, and training materials for alignment with regulatory requirements and industry best practices

  • Support development of operating procedures, technical specifications, and emergency operating procedures specific to SMR applications

  • Interface with design engineers, licensing staff, and regulatory bodies to ensure operational considerations are integrated into plant design

  • Contribute to the development of operator training programs and simulator specifications


Required Qualifications

  • Active or previously held (within 8 years) SRO or RO license on a commercial PWR

  • Minimum 8 years of commercial nuclear power plant operations experience

  • Comprehensive knowledge of PWR systems, and operations

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of multidisciplinary teams


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with new plant licensing or significant plant modifications

  • Familiarity with advanced reactor concepts or SMR technology

  • Previous SME or consulting experience

  • Experience with training program development


Education / Experience Requirements:


Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or 8+ years of experience in commercial nuclear



Physical Requirements: Must be capable of climbing, walking, kneeling, bending, and lifting as part of daily job responsibilities. Ability to lift a minimum of 35 – 60 lbs.
