Job Summary
The Senior Nuclear Program Manager is responsible for leading complex nuclear programs and projects within highly regulated commercial nuclear environments.
This role provides strategic leadership across operations, maintenance, engineering, training, and regulatory compliance, with a strong focus on outage execution, valve programs (MOV/AOV/IST), spent fuel management, and NRC-regulated activities.
The position requires extensive experience in nuclear power plant operations, project management, vendor oversight, and cross-functional leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage large-scale nuclear projects and programs, including outage-related activities, engineering initiatives, and long-term maintenance programs
Serve as program owner or management representative for nuclear systems and regulatory programs (e.g., MOV, AOV, IST, valve programs, ISFSI)
Oversee vendor performance, contracts, purchase orders, budgets, schedules, and multi-site coordination
Ensure compliance with NRC licensing, regulatory commitments, and INPO standards
Provide leadership across operations, maintenance, engineering, and training organizations
Manage and mentor supervisors, engineers, and craft personnel (often 100+ staff during outages)
Lead corrective action, self-assessments, root cause evaluations, and continuous improvement initiatives
Interface with corporate leadership, site management, regulators, and industry peers
Support training program development and delivery, including SME instruction and qualification programs
Drive schedule adherence, budget performance, safety culture, and human performance excellence
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Engineering, Nuclear Technology, Engineering, or related technical discipline
10-15+ years of experience in the commercial nuclear industry
Proven experience leading and managing large-scale nuclear projects and programs in the $50M–$100M+ range
Accountability for full project lifecycle: scope, budget, schedule, execution, and closeout
Experience managing multiple concurrent projects/programs within an operating nuclear plant
Extensive experience in nuclear project management and program ownership
Demonstrated leadership in maintenance, engineering, and outage environments
Strong working knowledge of NRC regulations, including 10 CFR 50, 72, 50.59, 72.48
Experience managing valve programs (MOV, AOV, Safety/Relief, Check Valves, IST)
Proven ability to manage large budgets, schedules, and multi-vendor environments
Preferred Qualifications
Licensed Reactor Operator (RO or SRO)
ISFSI management experience
INPO-certified supervisor or engineering leadership certification
PMP or formal project management training
Prior Navy Nuclear Power experience
Experience at BWR and/or PWR facilities
