OUTAGES/TURNAROUND – PLANT SERVICES
OVERVIEW

BCP Plant Services division has a long history of developing innovative solutions and specialty tooling for outages and turnarounds for emergent and identified field issues. Specializing in seal table work, the Plant Services team has expertise and tooling that is applicable to small-diameter tubing cleaning and retrieval needs–this includes nuclear Flux Thimbles, Spent Fuel Pool (SFP) Leak Chase drains, and other small diameter tubing locations.

CLIENT ISSUE/PROBLEM

Davis-Besse had a regulatory requirement to clean the SFP Leak Chase Drains. Davis-Besse having attempted this multiple was unable to develop tooling and the process to clean the system due to tight piping turns and configurations.

SOLUTION

BCP took on the task of developing a solution and the tooling to unblock and clean the inside of Davis-Besse SFP Leak Chase Drains. Using a two-phased process, BCP developed system configuration mockups and successfully developed, designed, and tested tooling and process to clean the drains. Once the process was approved by the client, BCP initiated Phase 2 and provided the needed personnel and tooling to Davis-Besse, and successfully implemented the solution.

CLIENT BENEFITS

Through its innovative design process, the BCP team was able to develop the solution and procedures to resolve a long-standing problem for Davis-Besse; help Davis-Besse meet its regulatory requirements; eliminate any clogging/drain problems, verify free flow in the lines and eliminate the potential impact on plant safety
